Posted on otsoNY.com today, as the final part of the special Easter film weekend, “A Rainy Day in New York”, was a romantic comedy film written and directed by Woody Allen, and starred Timothée Chalamet, Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Jude Law, Diego Luna and Liev Schreiber. The film followed the romantic exploits of a young college student on a weekend trip in his hometown of New York City, trying to further bond with his college girlfriend while she was in the city to interview a famous film director.

The film was completed in 2018, but its distributor Amazon Studios halted the release of the film following controversy regarding Allen and the #MeToo movement. It was eventually released in 2019 to Europe, South American, and Asian countries.

As with many of Allen’s film productions, there were a lot of New York locations, of which included Waverly Street, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Pierre Hotel on Fifth Avenue, Minetta Street, West 13th Street, The Albert at 23 East 10th Street, and Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel on East 76th Street. Known more so for her successful singing career, Selena Gomez gained her first acting role in “Gianna", followed by roles in “Spy Kids 3: Game Over”, “Walker”, “Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire”, and “House Broken”.

In 2007, Gomez moved to Los Angeles, California when she booked the lead role of "Alex Russo" and rose to fame in the Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place”. She then starred in “Another Cinderella Story” on ABC Family, had her first voice-role in the animated film “Horton Hears a Who!”, and in 2009, co-starred with childhood friend, Demi Lovato, in “Princess Protection Program”. In 2011, Gomez starred in “Monte Carlo”, and in the following year “Spring Breakers”, and “Hotel Transylvania”. In 2013, she starred in “Getaway” followed by “Rudderless”, and “Behaving Badly”. In between releasing new music and a her second solo album "Revival," which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 list, and starred in “Hotel Transylvania 2”, “The Fundamentals of Caring”, “In Dubious Battle”, and “Bad Neighbours 2”. In August 2017, Gomez was cast in “A Rainy Day in New York”, and upon its unreleased status would donate her salary from the film to the ‘Time's Up’ initiative.

More recently, she partnered with the athletic brand, Puma, as brand ambassador appearing in campaigns, including the Phenom Lux sneakers.
