Jennifer Lopez was back in New York this month to shoot scenes for “Hustlers”, an upcoming drama film written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, and based upon “The Hustlers at Scores” by Jessica Pressler. Previously seen in the romantic comedy “Second Act”, which has recently been released on DVD and Blu-Ray, and is set for inclusion in otsoNY’s film location section next month, Lopez was captured by the paparazzi at the corner of Sullivan Street and Prince Street, where she was held up by gun-pointing police officers. The film also stars Constance Wu, Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Mercedes Ruehl, Trace Lysette, Mette Towley, Madeline Brewer and Frank Whaley.

Inspired by the viral New York Magazine article, “Hustlers” follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. Jennifer Lopez trained for pole dancing in preparation for the movie, and it is believed that she even had a detachable pole in their house.

In February 2016, it was announced Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay would produce the film, under their Gloria Sanchez Productions banner. In May 2016, Annapurna Pictures was announced to produce, finance, and distribute the film, with Megan Ellison and Chelsea Barnard serving as producers on the film. In August 2018, it was announced Jennifer Lopez would star in the film, with Lorene Scafaria directing from a screenplay she wrote. In October 2018, it was announced Annapurna had dropped the film, with STX Entertainment acquiring distribution rights to the film and Constance Wu joining the cast. Annapurna allegedly dropped the film after struggling to sell off the foreign distribution rights and budget concerns.

Besides “Second Act”, Lopez has starred in New York-based movies “The Back-up Plan”, “Maid in Manhattan”, and “Jersey Girl”, and is expected to be seen in New York City throughout April filming scenes for “Hustlers”, which is due for release in 2020.
