There are several films currently in production and shooting on the streets of New York. First up is the Crime Drama “The Woman in the Window”, which is due for release in September 2019. It stars Amy Adams, Gary Oldman and Wyatt Russell. The film follows an agoraphobic woman who is living alone in New York and who begins spying on her new neighbours only to witness a disturbing act of violence. The project is the result of an adaptation of the A.J. Finn's best-selling novel, which has sold more than 1 million copies sold in the United States, and has additionally topped the best-seller charts in multiple countries and is currently published in 38 languages. Film locations include Marcy Armory, in Brooklyn, Malcolm X Blvd and West 121st Street, as well as Lenox Avenue and West 123rd Street.

Actress Amy Adams

Up next is "Bad Education" starring Hugh Jackman, Alex Wolff and Allison Janney. All singing all dancing Jackman, who recently showcased his incredible talents in "The Greatest Showman" is back in the state of New York for this one to tell the story of the single largest public school embezzlement scandal in history. Filming locations include Hunters Point Avenue and 38th Street in Long Island City, Grace Avenue and Needham Avenue in the Bronx, and Park Avenue and 63rd Street in Manhattan.

Spider-Man

And finally, a couple of comic-based characters will shortly be back on the big screen. First up is "Spider-Man: Far From Home". Tom Holland makes a return as Peter Parker, which is normally the crunch time for his success rate to be monitored, as so many other actors who have played the part have fallen short at this stage. After the events of the untitled Avengers film Peter Parker and his friends go on summer vacation to Europe and there Peter finds himself trying to save his friends against a villain known as Mysterio, which is played by Zendaya, who was last seen in "The Greatest Showman" playing Anne Wheeler, the trapeze artist. Zendaya began her career appearing as a child model working for Macy's, Mervyns and Old Navy. She was a backup dancer before gaining prominence for her role as Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up (2010) which also includes Bella Thorne, Kenton Duty and Roshon Fegan. Zendaya was a contestant on the sixteenth season of the competition series Dancing with the Stars. She went on to produce and star as K.C. Cooper in the Disney Channel sitcom K.C. Undercover (2015).

Actress Zendaya

She made her film breakthrough in 2017, starring as Michelle "MJ" Jones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero film Spider-Man Homecoming (2017) and as Anne Wheeler in the musical drama film The Greatest Showman (2017) alongside actors such as Tom Holland, Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron. Besides acting, singing and dancing she is an ambassador for Convoy of Hope. She has written a book, launched her own clothing line (Daya by Zendaya) and proved herself to be a great role model for young girls all around the world.

Actress Zendaya

Though " Spider-Man: Far From Home" is partly set in Europe, there is still expected to be some scenes shot in New York, and early reports say that West 35th Street and 8th Avenue has been used.

The other comic-character returning to the big screen next year is the "Joker". Joaquin Phoenix steps into the fair large shoes left behind by actors Jack Nicholson and the late Heath Ledger, though he will have plenty of support to get him through with such names as Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz, who was last seen in Deadpool 2 playing Domino. Film locations have included Market Street, Broad Street and Mulberry Street. The film's plot has been kept under wraps, though it is rumoured to centre on how the popular comic book villain known as The Joker came to be. The expected release date is October 2019.
