Ghostbusters 2 Revisited for Halloween

25 October 2017

As Halloween looms, otsoNY prepares to revisit the 1989 supernatural comedy, Ghostbusters 2.

With the harrowing memories of the last year’s all-female Ghostbusters Reboot firmly buried and with no sign of a sequel on Paul Feig’s ‘To Do List’, it seems a fitting time to revisit Ivan Reitman’s second offering, which was set five years after the events of the first film, and saw the Ghostbusters plagued by lawsuits, court orders, and their once-lucrative business in bankruptcy, until an ancient tyrant, prepared a return to the Earthly domain through a river of slime under the city and his portrait at the Manhattan Museum of Art, who set his sights on Dana Barrett's baby as the new home for his wicked soul. The Ghostbusters were called back into action to once again save the city of New York by turning paranormal pest control into an art form.

Almost 30 years on, and the question as to why this sequel failed to replicate the success of the original is still an on-going discussion among Ghostbusters fans. Forgiven perhaps for its appalling special effects, the real stumbling block was the lack of character development and pace in the script, though it was still a reasonably enjoyable film which successfully reunited the original cast members Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Rick Moranis.

New high-quality screenshots and additional film locations will be added on Tuesday 31st October.
