24 April 2019

In the late 1970s, an episode of The Incredible Hulk television show was filmed in New York’s Times Square. The show ran for 5 seasons, and after the cancellation of the television series in 1982, three television movies were produced with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno reprising their roles.

The popular 70s television show starred Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner whilst Brooklyn-born bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno played The Incredible Hulk. Banner was a brilliant scientist but, one day, a laboratory experiment that he was working on went terribly awry. Since that time, whenever he was under extreme stress, his body underwent a transmogrification and he morphed into the Incredible Hulk. The Hulk was about seven feet tall, hugely muscular and powerful, and had bright green skin. After destroying whatever threatened Dr. Banner, he morphed back to normal human form with only amnesia and tattered clothing as evidence of what had just transpired. As you can well imagine, this situation was quite troubling for Dr. Banner and caused him a great amount of problems. All the while, he was pursued by Jack McGee, an investigative reporter who believed that the Hulk was a deadly menace whose exposure would enhance his career.

The Hulk is always barefoot, but in outdoor scenes Lou Ferrigno often wore Hulk-green slippers to protect his feet. These are most noticeable in "Terror in Times Square", as the Hulk stormed through Times Square.

In an early episode, David Banner took a job working at an arcade in Times Square, where everybody paid off Uncle Jason, and it was here in New York City that David found out that two elderly men were planning to take matters into their own hands. A fugitive scientist David had the curse of becoming a powerful green monster under extreme emotional stress and as a result caused terror in Times Square.

The majority of the TV show was shot on the backlot of Universal Studios in California, though for this episode, there were actual scenes shot in Times Square as well as on Park Avenue and at the parking garage of the Sulgrave Building at 650 Park Avenue at the East 67th Street entrance.
