New York City has recently played host to three major films productions; “The Only Living Boy in New York”, “The Greatest Showman on Earth” and “Life Itself”.

Kate Beckinsale, Jeff Bridges, Pierce Brosnan star in “The Only Living Boy in New York”, a film that asks the question - What do you do if you find out your father is having an affair? Based on an Allen Loeb script, the film follows a teenager who discovers the aforementioned ghastly secret about his father. Unhappy with the situation, the boy tracks the woman down and confronts her, only to end up falling for her himself. Confirmed filming locations for this production have been Manhattan’s Washington Square Park and Mercer Street, where Kate Beckinsale was witnessed by the paparazzi.

Kate Beckinsale who has recently completed the fifth film in the “Underworld” series is no stranger to New York film productions, and has previously appeared in the romantic drama “Serendipity”, “The Last Days of Disco”, and “Everybody’s Fine”. The new drama is expected to be released to US cinema audiences in August 2017.

Starring in “The Greatest Showman on Earth” is Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Williams, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Zendaya. Scheduled for a Christmas release, the film tells the story of American showman P.T. Barnum, founder of the circus that became the famous travelling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and is directed by Michael Gracey. Confirmed filming locations have been the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Marcy Armory also in Brooklyn, as well as Madison Avenue and East 79th Street, and East 78th Street and 5th Avenue.

Finally, “Life Itself” stars Samuel L. Jackson, Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde. The story centres on a couple that lead a multigenerational love story spanning both decades and continents, from the streets of New York to the Spanish countryside, and are all connected by a single event. Olivia Wilde has starred in several New York based films such as "Third Person" and "The Longest Week" alongside Jason Bateman, and is also a resident of the city. There is no official release date for this film, though IMDB has assigned 2018 to the production.
