Eye Candy TV Show

16 January 2015

This week saw the pilot episode of Eye Candy air on US television, but was it any good?

Produced by MTV, the New York-based television show stars Victoria Justice as Lindy Sampson, a woman suspect that one of her online dates is a serial killer. Going on that basis, it is difficult to see how this new show will make it pass the first season of 10 episodes. In the first episode there are several times when you not only doubt the intelligence of the characters, but whether any of them have any sense between them. However, all of that is very easy to overlook as 90% of the cast is made up of model-type actors, which help to blur the thin storyline.

Throughout the first hour, we see the main character at her job with her helpful co-worker George, who is about the only actor who doesn’t have chiselled good looks. How she managed to get a job as a tech support person when she is on probation for hacking is unknown. Other characters come and go throughout the episode, and by the time the closing credits roll up the screen, it does leave you wanting more, but how much more is questionable.

Occasional shots of New York appear briefly between scenes but normally not for long enough to recognise any actual real locations, and it is not until the very end of the episode do we see Victoria Justice sitting on a bench with the famous New York County Supreme Court on Centre Street in the background.
