Kate and Leopold Revisit

6 February 2017

As Valentine’s Day approaches, otsoNY has decided to revisit the incredibly romantic movie, Kate and Leopold, which starred Meg Ryan as Kate McKay, a modern day executive driven to succeed in the corporate world. As the romantic lead, Hugh Jackman played Leopold, the third Duke of Albany, who was a charming gent and bachelor of the late 18OOs. With career and social expectations looming, each had grown cynical about the very notion of falling in love, but when a rip in the fabric of time thrust Leopold into present day New York, the potential for an old-fashioned modern romance ignited.

otsoNY originally posted the film in 2009, but has since found additional locations and replaced all of the original scene shots with sharper images. An interesting fact about the film is that Hugh Jackman actually took etiquette lessons from 19th-century etiquette expert Jane Gibson, who trained actors for such projects as “Sense and Sensibility”. He also studied ballroom dancing and trained to ride a horse for the film.
